Strange, Very strange...!

Life, times, experiences... glimpses of the after-world

Split Snippets

"Is there nothing that will stop that boy" Pa would ask reflectively,
he knew the answer, while we swam atop
the high waves of youth, only time would eventually
stop this unstoppable wave. It worried my folks, what if it was too late?
what if i were involved in a mishap in this madness of life
running through my head like small bits of explosions
inside me that sent the madness plunging forward,
Time must have a stop, but time didn't matter,
time never mattered, We were the time, The time was Now.

Exquisite indulgence gradually required more supply of our life force;
the money, habitual experience led us to changing jobs like we didn't give a fuck.
We don't give a fuck even today, I am forty years old,
and as i sit by my window reflecting on life and everything thats happened,
there isn't anything that we ever dreamed of doing and we didn't do.
At forty today, life doesn't cease to be less fun, I was plain lucky
in the walk of my life.

Like the time when i was twenty and we almost lost our lives,
being stranded in the middle of a jungle with no place to run to,
our car which was gradually making its way into a quicksand pit,
the eerie drunken sounds from villagers near the forest, wild dogs on the loose
and absolute darkness with fireflies for company, the situation,
lets just say was controlled by a series of fortunate happenings,
we got back almost safe, if not unscathed.

But today i'm plain bored, bored of life.
We raced ourselves ahead in time, ahead of our lives , to revel
in life itself, never knowing life would cease to be its amazing self
sometime. what was the purpose of life? we lived the life,
did everything we dreamed of and today as I sit here,
looking outside my window at the people outside,
I find myself lonely, I have no true person to grow old with,
after I divorced for the third time i gave up any hopes of ever settling down
I never had kids, never really liked the prospect,
I lived life on my terms, feeding all its cravings and it wanes on me today,
The price that is to be paid for living life in a supersonic drive,
Life has nothing more to offer to me,
and i shall end this treacherous thing today,

its what i always planned to do,

if life ever ceased to be fun.

The Madcap exits

Tuesday, July 11, 2006

The Legendary genius, Guitar virtuoso, Visionary and most of all an accomplished musician passed away last week, at the age of 60, which concluded his long chosen seclusion from the world.
Roger Keith Barrett, popularly known as Syd Barrett, the co-founder and genius behind Pink Floyd who exited the band rather early, owing to his mental illness catalysed by his excessive use of L.S.D (He was reported to have done almost 250 trips in a span of just 6 months).

Syd Barrett brought to music in the 60's the undeniable touch of Psychedelia accentuated by his plunge to depression and insanity which laid down the blue print for Pink Floyd which remained even after his untimely exit at the helm of their popularity.

Most of all what attracted one to the persona of Syd Barrett - The Piper, is his apparent madness which underlined his classic works. Strange sounds, cryptic lyrics with the touch of uncertain madness epitomised the expression of Psychedelia. Which has continually influenced generations of musicians time and again. His fascination for colours and filters and experimental sound leaves one breathlessly gaping at this mad genius.

To my favourite colourful madman of all times,

Shine On You Crazy Diamond!
